English for Academic Examinations and Qualifications

Whatever the qualification or examination you are seeking in English and the international sphere, we can help. We currently support learning in the following but can extend our coverage to BULATS, TOEIC:

1. IELTS

 

This intensive preparation course focuses on all the main language skills and exam techniques you will need to give you the best possible chance of getting the score you require for the university of your choice. IELTS (International English Language Testing System) is recognised as an entrance requirement by British, Australian, New Zealand and Canadian universities and for secondary, vocational and training programmes.

 

This IELTS course is for you if you are planning to apply to these academic institutions or if you would just like to challenge yourself and work towards a recognised qualification in English.

At the end of the IELTS course you can expect to:

  • Achieve the best possible IELTS result  

  • Be able to approach the four components (listening, reading, writing and speaking) with greater confidence

  • Be able to speak and write more accurately and confidently

  • Be able to use a wider range of academic and general vocabulary and grammar

  • Be able to recognise the areas you need to improve

The IELTS course is a highly intensive programme focusing on the skills required including reading, writing, listening and speaking as well as improving vocabulary and grammar. You will also concentrate on developing effective examination techniques.

You will do regular examination practice, including a mid-course full-practice exam, and receive feedback, correction and advice from your trainer. A full online practice IELTS exam is also included in the course.

2. Cambridge C1 Advanced

As from 2017, the Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English is now named Cambridge C1 Advanced. The Cambridge C1 Advanced (CAE) Preparation course is designed to give you the key language skills and strategies to achieve the best possible result. The CAE certificate is an internationally-recognised qualification which demonstrates your ability to use English at an advanced C1 level.

The CAE qualification is a way to demonstrate to your employer or a higher educational institute that you are able to use English at an advanced level. The certificate is recognised as proof of your level of English in over 100 countries worldwide and can be a very useful tool for your professional career and further studies.

By the end of this course you will be able to:

  • achieve the best possible result in the CAE exam

  • handle the four papers in the exam with more confidence

  • speak and write more confidently and accurately

  • understand what you read and hear more easily

  • use a wider range of grammar and vocabulary

  • identify the areas you need to work on more                                                                                     

Course Content

This will focus on all of the main skills that are required in the CAE exam:

  • Writing

  • Reading

  • Use of English

  • Preparation for CAE speaking test

  • Listening papers

  • CAE practice papers                                                                                                                             

As part of the course, you will take a full mock CAE exam to give you an idea of what to expect and to get you used to working under examination conditions. You will also concentrate on developing good exam techniques and practise with past CAE exam papers.

3. Cambridge B2 First:

In 2017, Cambridge began the process of renaming their exams. The Cambridge First Certificate is now named Cambridge B2 First.

The Cambridge B2 First (FCE) certificate is an internationally-recognised qualification that demonstrates your ability to use English at an upper-intermediate, B2 level. Our FCE preparation course will give you the skills and practice to enter the exam feeling fully prepared and confident.

The FCE certificate is globally recognised by universities, employers and other educational institutions. It is ideal if you need to prove that you can use English at an upper-intermediate (6.0) level for your work, to put on your CV (resume) or for your university application.

4.  Cambridge BEC Vantage Exam Preparation

The Business English Certificate - BEC Vantage preparation course focuses on developing the language skills and exam techniques needed for the Cambridge BEC Vantage exam. It is an intensive, two-week course which aims to give you the best possible chance of doing well in the exam.

The BEC Vantage certificate is a useful qualification for anyone who needs to use English for business and professional purposes or who are preparing to follow such a career. The certificate tests your business English skills and demonstrates your ability to perform to an upper-intermediate (B2) level.

Course Content

On the course you will focus on the key language skills and communication strategies tested in the exam:

  • Reading – multiple choice comprehension, gap-filling, proof reading to test sentence structure and error identification

  • Writing – writing short messages, letters, reports and proposals

  • Listening – Completing messages/forms using information heard, multiple choice questions about conversations, interviews, presentations, matching heard extracts with written descriptions

  • Speaking – Discussions about your work and interests, giving a brief presentation on a business-related topic, exchanging information on work-related topics, discussing general work-related topics

  • Development of key vocabulary

  • Grammatical accuracy
